How does compress work?

Compress redraws each page as an image at a lower scale and JPEG quality, then rebuilds a PDF. That honestly trades quality for size — you’ll see before/after bytes.

Can you remove a password I don’t know?

No. Unlock only works with the password you supply. We do not crack or bypass encryption.
